Yu Jideng was born in the twenty-third year of Jiajing(1544)and passed the imperial examination in the fifth year of Wanli(1577).His official career was not too turbulent,but it was not all smooth sailing.After serving as an official in the DPRK for decades,with his own ability,he finally took the position of Shangshu of the Ministry of Rites."Dan Ran Xuan Ji" is a collection of Yu Jideng’s personal essays,compiled by his friend Feng Qi after Yu Jideng’s death.The collection of essays involves politics,military,culture and other aspects and has high documentary value.And this article will discuss Yu Jideng and "Dan Ran Xuan Ji" from four aspects.The first chapter is about Yu Jideng’s life and writings.Yu Jideng lost his parents when he was young and has no one to rely on.After returning to his hometown,he was persecuted by his tribe.After revealing his talent for reading,he gradually had a stable living and learning environment.Later,he was awarded a jinshi,served as an official in the dynasty for several decades.During the period of the dynasty,he did not stop writing and wrote "Allusions Ji Wen","Dan Ran Xuan Ji","Tong Jian Jin Lecture Record","Tong Jian Lecture Notes" and so on.The second chapter is an introduction to the version and content of "Dan Ran Xuan Ji".Yu Jideng died in the twenty-eighth year of Wanli(1600).The first publication of "Dan Ran Xuan Ji" was in the thirty-first year of Wanli(1603),which is also the earliest version currently available.In addition,the "Si Ku Quan Shu" is the most commonly used version."Dan Ran Xuan Ji" contains some memorials,prefaces,epitaphs,sacrificial essays,poems,etc.written by Yu Jideng when he was an official,which is divided into political theory,communication and miscellaneous discussion according to the specific content.The third chapter is to see Yu Jideng’s ideological propositions from "Dan Ran Xuan Ji".Analyzing the content of the essays,we can see Yu Jideng’s political thoughts,military thoughts and academic thoughts.The political ideology mainly includes the way of being the king,the way of being a minister,the thinking of valuing the people and the thinking of employing people.Yu Jideng believes that in the process of governance,the emperor must respect the nature,love the people,and exercise benevolent governance.Officials should be loyal to the emperor,love the country,fulfill their duties,value the people,and pay attention to the people’s livelihood.The military ideology mainly advocates strengthening army building.The academic ideology is mainly to oppose the sparse academic style and maintain the orthodox position of Confucianism in the state power.The fourth chapter summarizes the value of historical materials of "Dan Ran Xuan Ji".The articles in "Dan Ran Xuan Ji" deal with the internal affairs of the Ming court,border wars,and the lives of characters,which are of high value for studying Ming Dynasty politics and preserving historical materials of characters.From "Dan Ran Xuan Ji".you can see Yu Jideng’s ideological propositions and the overview of his contacts.From the perspective of ordinary officials,it records some political and social events that occurred during the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty,which has certain historical value for understanding Yu Jideng’s own thoughts and the political situation of the Wanli Dynasty in the Ming Dynasty.
