Book binding is artistic and practical,and it has been an art for a long history.Thanks to this art,books can be read more easily and can be preserved for a longer period of time,and presenting a charming style.Material is the base of book binding.The material concept of modern book binding has changed.The use of new materials besides paper has given books various texture.Textile material is one of the materials,and its unique material properties have injected some new blood into modern book binding.Under the background of the new era,the emergence of e-books has brought a lot of impact to printing books.Changing the mind of design thinking,take full advantages of textile materials and applying them to modern book binding,can help to broaden the possibility of the books’ form design and innovation.This paper takes textile materials in book binding design as the main research object.and the content is divided into two aspects: theoretical research and design practice.The first part of the theoretical study expounds the relevant basic theories of textile materials,explaining their concepts and types;the second part outlines the basic theories of modern book binding,clarifies the concept of modern book binding,distinguishes its difference from traditional book binding,and Introduce its historical evolution and development status,sort out the materials used in book binding in history,analyze the new changes in modern book binding design concepts;the third part is based on the basic theories of the first two parts,analyzes the application of textile materials in books The characteristics and advantages of binding,introduce the basic functions of textile materials in book binding,and combine with specific cases to demonstrate that the application of textile materials in modern book binding has aesthetic,emotional and cultural added value.It is summarized on the basis of case analysis.Principles that need to be paid attention to in the application of textile materials in modern book binding design.On the basis of theoretical research,the design practice of the book "Selected Works of Jialin Lee Brocade" was carried out.First,the design topic was elaborated,and the research object of brocade was analyzed.Secondly,the creativity and planning scheme were explained,followed by the book.The practice of binding begins with preliminary testing,followed by material selection.Prior to the selection,the selection criteria for textile materials and the knowledge of commonly used textile materials in book binding are supplemented.This is used as a guide to clarify the specific materials used in book binding and start to proceed.Book binding.After finishing the binding,based on the theoretical knowledge of textile material printing technology,we choose screen printing to print the book title,use theory to guide practice,test theory in practice,and complete design creation.
