Reading,as one of the means of language learning,takes important position in English class.Teachers oriented by traditional reading teaching model pay more attention to the form of language such as the vocabulary,syntax and other language points in the articles,relatively ignoring the meaning and process of reading.This solidified teaching model can neither make the student-centered concept implemented nor cultivate students’ core competencies.This research takes subject core competencies as starting points as well as the foothold,takes production-oriented approach as implementation tool to achieve the goal of improving students’ core competencies through the reform of reading teaching model.Production-oriented approach aims to solve the problem of separating learning from use,which is consistent with the current cultivation of core competencies in middle schools.Most current researches based on this approach involve the impact on writing,listening,and the impact on oral expression,but there are few studies on the impact of reading,and it is rare to use production-oriented approach in the process of solving practical problems in middle school English teaching.It provides a space for this research.The research aims to answer the following three questions: 1.What is the model for junior middle school English reading teaching based on production-oriented approach? 2.How is the reading teaching model based on production-oriented approach applicable to the English class for junior middle school students? 3.What effects does the reading teaching model based on production-oriented approach have on the cultivation of students’ core competencies?The research takes students in a class of Grade 7 as the research subjects.In order to properly apply the production-oriented approach to middle school English reading teaching,based on the comprehensible input hypothesis theory with combination of the interaction hypothesis theory and the comprehensible output theory,the research constructs a tentative model for junior middle school English reading teaching based on the production-oriented approach;uses the research methods of interview to explore whether the English reading teaching model based on the production-oriented approach is suitable for junior middle school English reading teaching;adopts test method and questionnaires,analyzing the influence on students’ core competencies.After research and analysis,the following three conclusions are drawn: First,the production-oriented English reading teaching model for junior middle school students has been accomplished after three stages of tentative creation,application and modification;Second,the English reading teaching model based on the production-oriented approach is applicable to junior middle school English reading teaching,which can be demonstrated from the facilitating criteria by Wen,namely,gradualness,accuracy and diversity,the embodiment of core competencies in reading teaching model and the complement of gaps of teaching status quo,such as the improvement of superficial learning aims,fragmentation of learning contents and the magnification of students’ main body status;Thirdly,the English reading teaching model based on the production-oriented approach has a positive effect on the cultivation of students’ core competencies.Through this model,students can output what they have learned more effectively,the classroom efficiency can be improved,the English reading ability of junior middle school students can be enhanced,and the core competencies of students can be shaped,so that input and output are directly proportional.
