Construction Of A WeChat-based Autonomous Chinese Learning System For International Students

New media technologies have been applied in teaching Chinese as a foreign language.Quite a few online platforms have appeared to assist teaching Chinese as a foreign language,like learning platforms of Network Confucius Institute,Online Chinese Language Learning and Chinese Language Network,and public platforms of Learn Chinese,Happy Learning Chinese.However,for the international students who study Chinese at the China University of Petroleum,they do not have many opportunities to communicate with teachers after class.Therefore,it is extremely necessary to provide an autonomous learning platform for them.In view of this,this paper tries to construct a WeChat-based autonomous Chinese learning system to meet their needs.Firstly,an in-depth analysis is made of the current situation of Chinese teaching for international students and the application of WeChat in education,and then the feasibility and theoretical basis of platform construction are explored.Secondly,combining the main theories and hypotheses of language learning,the basic design theory of teaching Chinese as a foreign language,and the theory of network foreign language teaching,an autonomous learning system is designed for international students based on WeChat public platform.Finally,through trial use of the model of this learning system on mobile devices,comments and recommendations from the students at the University are obtained.It is shown that the platform provides a good means for teaching Chinese to the international students at the University and solves the problem of insufficient exchange and communication between teachers and students.Trial use of the platform has shown that it serves as an effective supplement for Chinese teaching at the University.It also shows that the self-designed WeChat autonomous Chinese learning system for international students is worth of being applied outside the University.
