Cultural industry is going through deepening reform,and growing concerns and attentions from country to society focus more on the industry.Private capital gradually flows into there and competition in the book market has become increasingly fierce.China’s book market is on stable growth.In accordance with the 2019 Publishing Industry Analysis Report,in 2019,sales of children’s books accounted for 26.25% of the total sales,which was in the leading position.At the same time,there was a growing share of imported books.Children’s literature is of great importance in cultivation and education of children.The content and ideas of children’s literature will exert a subtle influence on children by osmosis.Nevertheless,chaos in translation industry of children’s literature still exists.What’s worse,translated works of poor quality still circulate in the market.Therefore,a study of children’s literature translation is of necessity and essentiality.The report is based on the practice of E-C translation of Scary Stories for Young Foxes by Christian Mckay Heidicker,which has won the 2020 Newbery Honor Award.The book contains eight interconnected and interwoven short stories,full of adventure and excitement,as well as reveals cruelty and horror.These stories link the young foxes in their thrilling journey to survival and also show the warmth of friendship between these small animals.Children’s literature differs from general literature in its readership.There are huge differences between children’s language,cognition level,thinking abilities and those of adults.Therefore,the report,under the guidance of Reception Aesthetics,centers on readers to satisfy their horizon of expectation and aesthetic tastes so as to make the translation more accepted.This report applies sensory words,colloquial expressions,and reduplicated words to facilitate readers’ language preference,makes use of rhetorical devices and detailed description to satisfy readers’ expectation on interests and enjoyment,and applies transliteration,literal translation,and literal translation with endnotes to bring exotic cultural experience and satisfy readers’ curiosity and imagination about foreign cultures.
