| As a vital component of subject academic self-concept,English academic self-concept is of great significance for the improvement and development of students’ English learning.English academic self-concept also belongs to the category of educational psychology,which has a significant influence on the sound development of students’ personality.On the basis of the current study achievements,this study applies the methods of questionnaire survey,interview and investigation and statistical analysis technique of SPSS to studying the factors influencing the English academic self-concepts of junior high school students.The research contents include: the present situation and level of English academic self-concepts of junior middle school students and the influencing factors of English academic self-concepts of junior high school students.The study reached the following conclusions:1.The aggregate performance of academic self-concepts of junior high school students is at a relative low level.Among them,the academic self-concepts of English vocabulary,English listening and overall English study are higher than those of English grammar,English reading and English writing.2.The three component dimensions of junior high school students’ English academic self-concepts are shown as follows: English academic self-behavior is higher than English academic self-experience which is higher than English academic self-cognition.3.The factors influencing academic self-concept of junior high school students can be divided into two types.The first is the academic factors,including the factor of English internal component elements,the factor of specific dimension of English academic self-concept and the factor of English academic self-concept of liberal art,three of which are of significantly positive correlation with each other;the second is non-academic factors,including English academic-achievement factor,gender factors,and social factor,among which social factors can be also divided into subjective factors and external objective factors.Through the research findings above,the author combined the specific examples in the study and the specific facts of the school,and put forward five suggestions for educators on their methods to improve the English academic self-level of junior high school students. |
