A Project Report On E-C Translation Of Of Demystifying Internet Of Things Security(Chapters 1-2)

As an emerging technology,IoT security provides many opportunities for social development.The construction of IoT security becomes the focus of various industries.The source text of this translation project,Demystifying Internet of Things Security(Chapters 1-2),published in 2019 by Springer Press,focuses on how to build solid hardware and software devices to ensure the IoT security.Of the two chapters selected,the first defines IoT security,and the second focuses on its framework.The translation project of the two chapters cannot only inspire professionals to strengthen the construction of IoT security,but also help the general public to achieve basic understanding of IoT security.Guided by Reiss’s Text Typology,this translation report first presents its development and application,and then summarizes the source text from the lexical,syntactic and textual levels.Based on the language function,language dimension and translation method of different text types in the theory,this report analyzes the translation of abbreviations,nominal structures,passive sentences,attributive clauses and compound sentences in the source text.In order to achieve the logical and plain target text,such translation skills as the paraphrase,repetition,conversion,restructuring,literal translation and free translation were adopted to translate the informative text.It is concluded that Reiss’ s Text Typology theory is helpful in the translation of the source text.It is hoped that this report can bring some inspirations for the translation of scientific texts.
