After the founding of New China in 1949,the liberation of Tibet and the completion of the reunification of the Chinese mainland have become an inevitable trend in historical development.In 1950,on the basis of fully studying and judging the situation at home and abroad,the CPC Central Committee made the strategic decision of " liberating Tibet sooner rather than later," and planned to march into Tibet with the1 8th Army of Sichuan as the main force,and at the same time each sent an army from Qinghai,Xinjiang,and Yunnan to Tibet.The "126" regiment of the People’s Liberation Army affiliated to the Yunnan Military Region is the troop entering Tibet in the direction of Yunnan.After receiving the task of marching into Tibet,the "126" regiment actively prepared for the war.Mainly include: first,ideological mobilization,to dispel the slack psychology of some soldiers who are unwilling to enter Tibet,and learn the party’ s religion and ethnic policies;second,adaptation training,to conduct intensive training on plateau life,marching and combat,and help soldiers adapt to the natural environment of the plateau;Third,reserve supplies,follow the central government’ s " don’ t eat local" instructions,and strengthen the self-supply of food,weapons and horses.In August1950,the "126" regiment officially set off to Tibet.On October 6,in Songta Village on the border of Yunnan and Tibet,the Tibetan army reactionary led by Naen was defeated,which boosted the morale of the whole regiment.On October 8,the troops arrived at the outskirts of Qamdo,and then adopted the tactics of splitting troops into two lanes and making surprise attacks from behind,besieging Bitu,liberating Yanjing,and cooperating with the main force of the Sichuan Eighteenth Army to win the Battle of Qamdo.In order to implement the spirit of the "17-Article Agreement",in October 1951,the "126" regiment was stationed in Chayu to carry out "long-term construction of Tibet".The main achievements of its construction are: 1.Construction of transportation,more than 100 kilometers of highways and 46 large and small bridges were built from1951 to 1954;The rate reached 30%;3.To develop education,to build Sangang Quzong No.1 Primary School at the end of 1952,to realize the modernization of education in Chayu;4.To quell the rebellion,in 1959,he participated in the siege and suppression of the rebel forces in the area east of the Lancang River to maintain the peace of Tibetan areas Stablize.The " 126 " regiment entered Tibet,promoted the process of peaceful liberation of Tibet,developed the social construction cause in the Chayu area of Tibet,realized the integration with the Tibetan people,and became a model for implementing the party’ s ethnic and religious policies,enriching the " The connotation of the old Tibetan spirit.The "Old Tibet Spirit" displayed by the "126" regiment still inspires generations of workers from all walks of life in Chayu and even in the whole of Tibet.
