Summary Writing in the College Entrance Exam is effective in examining students’ English competence,including comprehension and expression.Comprehension refers to the competence in understanding the context and obtaining information from it.Expression is measured by fluency,accuracy and Coherence.However,to high school students,there are many problems when it comes to summary writing.How to help students with reading and writing has been one of the heated discussions among teachers and researchers.Endeavoring to contribute to the research in summary writing,based on the experiment of the application of discourse analysis in reading and writing,this research is aimed to locate students’ problems and study the positive effect of discourse analysis on the teaching of summary writing.
