A Project Report On The Simultaneous Interpreting For One Of The Meetings Of A Theme Park

The cultural tourism industry in China is a promising industry.As one of the health theme parks,Jiangbei Miaokang World(JMD)covers a large area with rich internal project business,and the project is still under construction,and the project is in full swing.From September to November 2020,the author participated in the interpretation work of this project,and was mainly responsible for the simultaneous interpretation of the company’s regular Monday meetings.In the process of translation practice,the interpreter encountered two main kinds of problems and difficulties:linguistic obstacles and extra-linguistic problems.The difficulties concerning the language are the strong accents and various dialects of the speaker,including Russian English and dialects of Hunan,Sichuan and so on.Another problem is inadequate preparation of terminology.Besides,inaccurate interpreting of colloquialisms.The extra-linguistic problems are mainly incomplete information and messy management for some objective and subjective reasons.Apart from that,the reporter had a poor understanding of the dual role of interpreters,who are supposed to be both translators and coordinators.The reporter made an in-depth analysis and summary of the practice of simultaneous interpreting,referred to relevant studies and incorporated the suggestions of the professors,and proposed corresponding solutions to the above problems,which include becoming familiar with different accents and dialects,preparing a glossary,properly allocating the energy and testing all the tools and equipment,using interpreting skills,mobilizing the subjectivity of the interpreter in the translation process.This report can be used as a reference for the relevant research to be conducted later.
