| According to the latest reforming policy of high school entrance examination issued by the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission,a 10-point listening and speaking test has been added to the high school entrance examination for students who enrolled in 2017.The reform has set a higher standards,reflecting China’s emphasis on and students’ listening and speaking skills.However,most teachers still find it difficult to organize an effective and efficient class.Therefore,it is essential to develop and adopt a suitable teaching model for the new situation.Founded in the 1980 s,task-based teaching method(TBLT)has become a relatively mature teaching mode.The author used a one-semester empirical study to verify the effectiveness of TBLT in the listening and speaking class in junior high school.Although there have been numerous researches on TBLT in different situations,few researches have been carried out in English listening and speaking teaching in junior high schools.Task-based teaching method was applied in the experimental class while the traditional teaching method(3P teaching method)was used for the control class.After the one-semester teaching practice,the data of the questionnaire,pre-test and post-test was analyzed and compared through SPSS.Besides the author interviewed some students to better understand their listening and speaking skills,learning styles,learning attitudes,and classroom participation.The result of the research shows that TBLT makes students take a more active part in English learning and it also promotes students’ performance.Compared with the traditional 3P teaching method,TBLT can better develop students’ listening and speaking abilities. |
