A Project Report On The C-E Translation Of Chapter 9 And Chapter 16 Of Jiangsu Province Yearbook 2019

This is a project report on the C-E translation of Chapter 9 and Chapter 16 of Jiangsu Province Yearbook 2019.After the translation,the author reviews and reflects on the entire translation process,summarizing and analyzing major issues and difficulties in the translation process at the lexical and syntactic levels.The major issues and difficulties in the translation process mainly include the translation of:(1)terminologies;(2)titles of art works;(3)subjectless sentences;(4)long sentences.Then,the author puts forward solutions to the above issues and difficulties,with the help of example analysis.The author can consult the relevant references to find official versions or translate terminologies word for word,and paraphrase and transliterate titles of the art works to achieve the accurate translation.In terms of problems at syntactic level,the translation of subjectless sentences can rely on the translation methods of adding implicit subject,changing the active sentences into the passive voice and adopting the sentence pattern of there-be,while the translation of long sentences requires the author to make a reasonable analysis of the sentence structure first,and then choose the translation methods of liner translation,reverse translation or division.This report provides an effective case study for the translation of informative texts like yearbooks,hoping to provide references for further researches.
