Veterans refer to those who have retired from active service(demobilized military cadres, demobilized veterans,etc.).As a special group of veterans who have served in the military, facing the process of changing from a soldier to a mass identity, each individual has different degrees of environmental adaptability. This study took the group of veterans as the research object, and used the Five Facet Mindfulness Questionnaire(FFMQ),Index of Well-Being(IWB),Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale(CD-RISC),and Emotion Regulation Questionnaire(ERQ)to 503 retired soldiers to explore the correlation between mindfulness and well-being of veterans, and the mediating role of emotional regulation and mental resilience between mindfulness and well-being of veterans. It is expected to provide a theoretical basis for psychological intervention measures to help veterans improve their sense of happiness, which is of great significance for veterans to integrate into society faster and better, and to promote social stability and harmonious development.Research indicates:(1)The mindfulness of veterans has significant differences in gender, age, household registration location, and whether they are only children;there are significant differences in the well-being of veterans in age and whether they are only children;the emotional regulation and psychological flexibility of veterans exist in gender and age Significant differences;(2)Veterans’ mindfulness, emotion regulation, psychological flexibility, and happiness are significantly positively correlated.Emotion regulation and psychological flexibility play an intermediary role between mindfulness and well-being of veterans.Psychological resilience plays a role in veterans’ sense of well-being.Mindfulness and happiness play an intermediary role, and emotion regulation and mental flexibility play a chain-like intermediary role between mindfulness and happiness. The results of this study have important practical implications. It can enhance the attention to the mental health problems of veterans, and conduct long-term and stable mindfulness training for ex-servicemen to adjust their emotions and ultimately improve their mental health.Government departments at all levels should expand mental health education methods, select and establish professional psychological counseling staff, enhance practical ability, and serve veterans better.
