In the recent years, the influence of subjective socioeconomic status(SES)on the self-other welfare tradeoff behavior has been a hot topic in the field of sociology. However, the existing studies have yielded conflicting results regarding this hot topic: one researcher found that LSES participants made more altruistic behavior than HSES participants;Other researchers have found that HSES participants made more altruistic behavior than LSES participants. In addition, the existing studies mainly focus on the effect of subjective socioeconomic status on self-other welfare tradeoff behavior in the gain situation, and few attention on the effect in the loss situation. On the other hand, the reasons that effect of subjective socioeconomic status on the self-other welfare tradeoff behavior are still insufficiently investigated. In order to investigate the self-other welfare tradeoff behavior of different subjective socioeconomic status participants under the loss and gain situation,Study 1 used the macarthur ladder task to measure the SES.To investigate the altruistic decision of subjects with different socioeconomic status to the allocating objects with different social distances,Study 2 used the macarthur ladder paradigm to initiate the SES.In order to test the results of Study 2,and further investigate the chain mediating effect of perceived social justice and social mobility beliefs on the relationship between subjective socioeconomic status and self-other welfare tradeoff behavior.Study 3 used the bimboola paradigm to initiate the SES.Study 1 found that the WTR(the indicator of altruistic behavior in the self-other welfare tradeoff)of HSES group was higher than that of the LSES group and the MSES group in the gain situation, the WTR of the LSES group was higher than the MSES group and the HSES group in the loss situation.Study 2 found that in the LSES group, the WTR of poor people was higher than that of rich people in the gain situation. The WTR of the rich is higher than that of the poor in the loss situation. In the HSES group, the WTR of the poor was higher than that of the rich in the gain and loss situations.Study 3 found that in the HSES group, the WTR of the rich was higher than that of the poor in the gain situation, and the WTR of the poor was higher than that of the rich in the loss situation. In the LSES group, the WTR was higher of the poor than for the rich in the gain situation. The WTR of the rich is higher than that of the poor in the loss situation. In addition, the perception of social justice and social mobility beliefs played a chain mediating role between SES and WTR in the gain situation. The results indicated that gain and loss situation moderated the subjective socioeconomic status and self-other welfare tradeoff behavior. The Lower the SES score, the weaker their perception of social justice and social mobility belief, and then they make more altruistic behavior in the gain situation. Therefore, the findings of this study reveal the influence of subjective socioeconomic status on social decision-making,enrich the relevant research content of social decision-making,and provide experimental evidence for promoting individuals’ altruistic behavior in real life.
