| Objective: Disgust is a basic human emotion,which can keep individuals away from pathogens and at the same time produce unpleasant negative emotions,which affects the communication between people.Interpersonal trust is a combination of emotion and cognition.Disgust is considered to be an affective factor affecting interpersonal trust,and the credibility of target cues is an important cognitive factor.This research aims to explore:(1)Explore the relationship between disgust sensitivity and disgust emotion,and its influence on interpersonal trust and interpersonal distrust;(2)Explore the target cues between disgust and interpersonal trust.(3)Explore the role of emotional information among disgust,target cues and interpersonal trust.Methods: There are three experimental studies in this study.Study 1adopts a mixed experimental design of 2(disgust sensitivity: high vs.low,between subjects)× 2(emotion type: disgust emotion vs.neutral emotion,within subjects).The high and low disgust sensitivity of trustees are divided by the total partition of the aversion sensitivity scale,use the pictures of the international sentiment picture library to start the disgust of the truster.The dependent variables are interpersonal trust and interpersonal distrust.Interpersonal trust is the amount of the trustee’s active investment in the trust game.Interpersonal distrust is the amount taken by the trustee for the first time in the distrust game.Study 2 adopts a mixed experimental design of 2(target cues: high credibility vs.low credibility,within the subject)× 2(emotional type: disgust emotion vs.neutral emotion,between the subjects),and the target cues is manipulated through the trustworthy scale.The manipulation of disgust is the same as Experiment 1.The dependent variable is interpersonal trust,and the measurement is the same as Experiment 1.Study 3 adopts a mixed experimental design of 2(target cues: no information vs.low credibility,within subjects)× 2(emotional information: yes vs.no,between subjects).The manipulation of target cues is the same as in experiment 2.The emotional information passes the instruction of emotional information is manipulated.The dependent variable is interpersonal trust,and the measurement is the same as Experiment 1.Results: Results: The results of Experiment 1 show that:(1)The disgust picture is effective in starting.(2)The main effect of emotion type on interpersonal trust is significant.Compared with neutral emotions,individuals under disgust have a lower level of interpersonal trust.(3)The main effect of disgust sensitivity on interpersonal distrust is significant,and people with high disgust sensitivity have more interpersonal distrust.The results of Experiment 2 show that: the main effect of emotion type on interpersonal trust is not significant.The main effect of target cues on interpersonal trust is significant.When the target cues are highly credible,the individual’s interpersonal trust level is higher.The interaction between them is edges significant.When the target cues are low credibility,the interpersonal trust generated by individuals with disgust is significantly less than that of individuals with neutral emotions.The results of Experiment 3 show that emotional information plays a moderating role between disgust and interpersonal trust,but when the target cues are low credibility,there is no significant difference in the influence of emotional information on interpersonal trust.Conclusion:(1)Disgust sensitivity and disgust emotion have different effects on the individuals trust.Among them,individuals with high disgust sensitivity will produce more interpersonal distrust,while disgust will cause individuals to produce less interpersonal trust.(2)Emotional information plays a moderating role between disgust and interpersonal trust,but when there is information with low credibility of target cues,the moderating role is not significant.(3)Interpersonal trust and interpersonal distrust are two independent structures,which further verify the two-dimensional model of trust. |
