In the process of growing up,individuals generally have the experience of being parenting by lying. From the perspective of parents, parenting by lying is a style that is time-saving and effective, compared with other rearing methods which have clear nature, the consequences of parenting by lying seem to be unclear, but previous studies have shown that parenting by lying has more advantages than disadvantages for children’s development, and children will have more lying behaviors and maladjustment(Hays &Carver,2014;Yi et al,2014;Wei & Liu,2020;Sarah et al.,2021).With the rapid development of the Internet, young Internet users account for 13.3% of the total Internet users, becoming the main group of Internet users.Due to the characteristics of anonymity and low supervision of the Internet,as well as the imperfect physical and mental development of teenagers,Online deviant behavior, mainly manifested by online deception,is widespread among teenagers and seriously affects their physical and mental health development.Previous studies have confirmed that parents’ Internet parenting styles will affect their children’s online deviant behaviors. This study discusses the impact of parenting by lying on teenagers’ online deception, which is of great significance to teenagers’ growth and healthy development. This study took 1348 middle school students in Zhoukou as subjects, and conducted a questionnaire survey with parenting by lying scale, psychological entitlement scale and online deception behavior scale. The results showed that:(1)there was no significant difference in demographic variables of parenting by lying, the level of psychological entitlement of boys was higher than that of girls, and there were significant differences in gender and school stage of online deception.(2)There was a significant positive correlation between each variable.(3)Psychological entitlement plays an intermediary role between parenting by lying and online deception.(4)The first half of the intermediary path of "parenting by lying → psychological entitlement → online deception"(parenting by lying→ psychological entitlement)is regulated by the level of parents’ education.Compared with a lower education level of parents, parents with higher education level have a greater impact on their children’s psychological entitlement level. Conclusion: parenting by lying has a positive predictive effect on online deception, and psychological entitlement plays an intermediary role between them, nurturers should pay attention to the potential harm of parenting by lying and reduce the use of lies to their children. In the first half of the intermediary path of "parenting by lying→ psychological entitlement→ online deception"(parenting by lying→ psychological entitlement),it is regulated by the level of parental education, compared with the children whose parents have lower education level, the children whose parents have higher education level show a higher level of psychological entitlement after parenting by lying.
