| Since the implementation of English Curriculum Standards for General High Schools(2017 Edition),English teaching based on key competencies has become the focus and hot spot of English curriculum reform.English instructional design is the prerequisite for effective teaching.The Professional Standards for Middle School Teachers issued by the Ministry of Education in 2012 was an urgent call for the professionalization of English teachers.It puts forward many teachers’ professional skills,and instructional design ability is the first skill.Taking 40 teachers in a senior high school in Liaoning Province as the research subjects,this thesis conducted in-depth research on English teachers’ teaching design ability in senior high school based on key competencies.Three research questions were explored as follows:1.What is the current situation of the instructional design ability of English teachers in senior high school based on key competencies?2.What are the factors influencing the instructional design ability of English teachers in senior high school?3.What are the suggestions for improving the instructional design ability of English teachers in senior high school?To study the first question,the author adopted the research method of text analysis.According to English Curriculum Standards for General High Schools(2017Edition),the author divided the instructional design ability of English teachers in senior high school based on key competencies into thirteen dimensions.The author collected and analyzed 40 English teachers’ questionnaires and 120 teaching designs.The research conclusion was that the instructional design ability of English teachers in senior high schools was generally above the medium level(based on Lext’s five-level scoring system),but the development of each ability dimension is uneven.To study the second question,the author adopted the research methods of questionnaire and interview.Through the study,it was found that the factors affecting the development of English teachers in senior high school’ instructional design ability were mainly two aspects: teaching age and teaching level.To study the third question,the author combined the research data and results of questionnaires and interviews and gave some suggestions for developing English teachers in senior high school’ instructional design ability.Firstly,teachers should systematically study the theoretical knowledge of English instructional design to make their teaching theoretical foundation more solid.Secondly,teachers should strengthen the study and practice of the new English curriculum standards.Thirdly,the content of training should be based on the teaching practice and needs of English teachers for instructional design training.Fourthly,teachers should carry out mutual help,mutual evaluation,and mutual activities. |
