| Vocabulary is the basis of English language learning and plays an important role in English teaching.However,after entering junior middle school,with the increase of the number of words and the difficulty of learning,the difficulty of memorizing words has become the main obstacle to students’ vocabulary learning.Therefore,it is necessary to explore an effective method to teach and learn English vocabulary.As a new learning method,mind map visualizes students’ thinking in the form of images,colors and lines according to their thinking characteristics and ways.In order to better understand the impact of mind map on students’ vocabulary learning,this study applies mind map to English vocabulary teaching in order to explore its effectiveness on English vocabulary teaching mode in junior middle school.This study takes vocabulary tests,questionnaires and interviews as instruments,two classes of Grade 8 of Jinan Experimental Middle School as the research subject,which mainly solves the following three problems:(1)What is the impact of mind-map-based vocabulary teaching on junior high school students’ English vocabulary scores?(2)What is the effect of mind-map-based vocabulary teaching on the formation of junior high school students’ vocabulary learning strategies?(3)What are the changes of students’ attitudes towards vocabulary learning after mind maps practice?During the experiment,one class is the experimental class while the other is the control class.Before and after the experiment,both of the two classes take the pre-test and post-test.At the same time,the author conducted questionnaires in the experimental class,and also interviewed and students.The data collected from the tests,questionnaires and interviews were analyzed.According to the analysis of the data collected from the tests,the author found that after three-month’s treatment,students in the experimental class have higher English vocabulary test scores than those the students in the control class.After the analysis of the questionnaires,interviews,the author found that after the experiment,the students in the experimental class showed more interest in English vocabulary learning and their English vocabulary learning strategy and ability are improved.This study found that the application of mind map in junior high school English vocabulary teaching has a certain effectiveness,hoping that this study can provide inspiration for improving the deficiency of junior high school vocabulary teaching and help students to improve their comprehensive ability to use words. |
