Study On The Compilation Of Liao,Xia And Jin Documents In The History Department Of Siku Quanshu

The History Department of Si Ku Quan Shu includes 28 Liao,Xia and Jin documents,eight forbidden documents and five uncollected documents.The main basis for the prohibition and deletion of documents is whether the words are appropriate and whether the discussion is biased.The documents containing the thought of "discrimination between Hua and Yi" are often banned.The compilation of Liao,Xia and Jin documents of the Ministry of history by the officials of the fourth library is classified first,which is divided into six categories: Official History,separate history,miscellaneous history,records,political books and geography,basically following the classification standards set by the "category order" and "category";The second is to distinguish the authenticity,distinguish between "description" and "keeping items",so as to evaluate the value of documents,and use the methods of distinguishing the authenticity,such as comparing the similarities and differences of catalogues and ancient books,examining the contradictions between the time of revising historical facts and the time of writing books,and verifying the appellation and the year of dynasties contained in historical books;Thirdly,the five Jin history documents compiled from the lost Yongle Dadian contributed to the preservation of national documents and also played a certain role in maintaining the political power of the Qing Dynasty.However,there are also some deficiencies in the compilation of Liao,Xia and Jin documents of the Ministry of history,such as the unclear division of "other history" and "miscellaneous history" in classification,and the distinction between "description" and "keeping items" is not completely based on the standards made in Fanli,resulting in improper document classification,failure to identify Qidan Guozhi as a fake book,and more emphasis on Jin history documents in loss collection,etc.In the compilation of Liao,Xia and Jin documents of the Ministry of history,the officials of Siku library should not only copy the original documents,but also change the national language translation in individual documents and rewrite the records of Qidan and the records of Dajin according to their orders.The political purpose of the Qing government to eliminate national prejudice and reshape orthodoxy is hidden behind the revision of translation and writing.With the compilation of Siku Quanshu,the compiling officer and the chief compiling officer should write a summary for each document.From the writing process of the original summary,the premise of the cabinet book and the summary of the general catalogue,we can compare the revision process of the summary of Liao,Xia and Jin documents of the Ministry of history by the officials of Siku,It is concluded that "extensive selection of historical materials","detailed textual research","emphasis on righteousness and examples","explicit praise and criticism" and "safeguarding imperial power" are the writing characteristics of the summary.
