On The Internal Logic And Spiritual Expression In Frank Auerbach’s Works

As a contemporary easel painting master,Frank Auerbach has created a series of outstanding oil painting works in his more than 60 years of creative career.Auerbach,as the inheritor of traditional painting art,has a constant craving of the spirit of his graphic work.To explore the connotation and value of his paintings.This paper takes Auerbach’s paintings as the research object,focusing on the internal logic and spiritual expression of his works.Auerbach’s paintings will be studied from the following three aspects.Firstly,it introduces Auerbach’s background information from three aspects:personal experience,artistic path and social background;Secondly,it comprehensively analyzes the internal logic of Auerbach’s works through Auerbach’s living environment,personality characteristics and the evolution of his works’ style;Third,analyze the ideological connotation in Auerbach’s works to study its spiritual expression;Ultimately,combined with my own watercolor creation,this paper elaborates the effect and Enlightenment of Auerbach’s graphic work on my drawing practice.The author hopes that the analysis of this paper can bring enlightenment to more scholars and artists.
