An Exploration Of The Expressive Language Of Chinese Pastel Painting

With its zero medium,special texture and ease of movement,pastel painting is a favourite of both Chinese and Western painters.From the Renaissance,pastel painting has gone through its infancy,its peak,its decline and its revival,and from being a derivative of European painting to an independent category of painting,without the love and persistence of pastel artists.The development of pastels in China has also been a tortuous rise,and nowadays more and more artists are involved in the creation of pastels,playing an important role in the integration of pastels in China.In this essay,we discuss the unique artistic language of pastel painting from the perspective of personal painting creation,combined with practical exploration of the problems encountered and insights gained in the expression of the language of pastel painting.
