Arnold Berleant,as a famous contemporary American environmental aesthetician,with his profound academic foundation and expanded academic vision,has made great achievements in the research field of aesthetics and environmental aesthetics and has an important influence on the research topic and principles of environmental aesthetics.Berleant wrote many books on environmental aesthetics,thinking and studying the theoretical problems and applied practices of environmental aesthetics.It is of positive theoretical and practical significance to study and sum up Berleant’s thoughts and concepts on human environments aesthetics.Berleant’s exploration and thinking of human environments aesthetics mainly focus on city,landscape,architecture and garden,and put forward many inspiring views and constructive opinions.This paper is based on Berleant’s thinking on these huamn environments,explains the relevant thoughts of huamn environments aesthetics,and reveals its theoretical and practical significance.This paper studies Berleant’s aesthetics thought on human environments,which is mainly divided into the following five partsIn the introduction part,First of all,it summarizes Berleant’s academic career and his representative works,in order to have a holistic understanding of Berleant’s aesthetics research.Secondly,it combs and summarizes the research status of Berleant’s academic viewpoint at home and abroad.Thirdly,it introduces briefly the concept and connotation of human environments.Finally,the paper expounds the research features and basic ideas.The second part discusses the basis of Berleant’s human environments aesthetics,including its philosophical basis and environmental aesthetics basis.This chapter is a brief discussion of berleant’s environmental aesthetics to lay a foundation for further grasping the research object.The third part studies Berleant’s aesthetics thought on human environments,mainly expounds the aesthetics thought of human environments in urban environment,architecture,landscape environment and garden environment.Berleant pointed out that the significance of urban aesthetics lies in the experience of people.As an ecological system,the construction of urban environment should fully consider aesthetic factors such as aesthetic experience and aesthetic engagement.Berleant regards architecture as an environment,and his thinking on architecture provides new ideas for architectural aesthetics.In Berleant’s opinion,the definition of landscape is very broad and vague.We live in landscape,and berleant focuses on the discussion of aesthetic value in thinking about landscape,and its purpose of transforming landscape is to obtain an appreciation for it.As for garden aesthetics,Berleant mainly discusses Chinese gardens and theme parks,and uses his theoretical views to promote its application in specific cases.The fourth part is to discuss the significance of Berleant’s aesthetics thought on human environments and summarize its theoretical and practical significance on the basis of the above mentioned.Berleant’s research on human environmental aesthetics not only broadens the research scope and aesthetic boundary of environmental aesthetics,but also enriches the connotation of environmental aesthetics and brings about changes in the field and characteristics of aesthetic research.His basic views and new ideas on human environment help to improve the relationship between human and environment,provide important inspiration and reference for environmental design and planning.The last part is the conclusion,which summarizes the whole text,a summary of Berleant’s thinking on various human environments and its related thoughts,and reiterates the important value of Berleant’s aesthetics thoughts on human environments.
