| Music review refers to value evaluation on music works from the perspectives of artistic level,text content,social influence and other factors,it also involves theoretical analysis and historical conclusion on various forms of musical phenomenon.Music review can be classified into art criticism in literary style,and prose in genre.With the rise of information technology and development of streaming music industry since the beginning of the 21 st century,Pitchfork,a music review website,has become one of the most influential platforms for audience to appreciate,comment and share indie music works.Given that domestic music lovers have paid more attention to foreign indie music,the demand for translation of music reviews has also increased accordingly.Given that music reviews belong to arts criticism and serve as a major component of prose,this type of text is a combination of literariness and aesthetics.As a result,it inevitably makes extensive use of figures of speech.Understanding and translating these figures of speech has constituted a difficult and major point for the translator.The report is an E-C translation practice based on dozens of music reviews selected from the Pitchfork.The translator made a case analysis on source text provided with typical figures of speech.The report contains five chapters,namely Introduction,Task Description,Task Progress,Case Analysis and Conclusion.As the keystone of the report,the fourth chapter is composed of various cases analysis on phonetical,semantic and syntactical figures of speech.The practice has proved that flexible and appropriate application of various translation methods and thorough understanding of musical themes and other background information of music works are of significance for translating music reviews. |
