Vocabulary is the smallest unit of language,which together with phonetics and grammar constitute the three important elements of language learning,so vocabulary learning plays a very important role in English learning.However,many teachers do not pay enough attention to the teaching of English vocabulary in their teaching,and fail to guide students’ vocabulary learning,resulting in some students not being able to use vocabulary correctly in some specific situations.The combination of English vocabulary teaching and situational teaching method is appealed by many scholars.They believe that this will improve students’ interest in English vocabulary learning.This paper aims to study the impact of English vocabulary teaching based on situational teaching method to students’ English vocabulary learning attitude and performance in junior high school.At the end of the experiment,the author will answer the following two questions:(1)What is the influence of English vocabulary teaching based on situational teaching method on students’ attitudes towards English vocabulary learning?(2)What is the influence of English vocabulary teaching based on situational teaching method on students’ performance towards English vocabulary learning?In order to answer the above questions,the author conducts a fourmonth experimental study of two classes in a middle school in Guiyang.At the beginning of the experiment,the questionnaire and vocabulary test are used to assess students’ English vocabulary learning situation in EC and CC.In the experiment,the traditional vocabulary teaching method is applied to the CC and the situational teaching method is applied to the EC.After the teaching experiment,the questionnaire,vocabulary test and interview are used to collect and analyze the students’ vocabulary learning attitude and performance,and SPSS is used to analyze.The results of this paper are as follows:(1)The situational teaching method has a positive impact on the English vocabulary learning attitude of junior high school students.Students’ learning interest in English vocabulary is improved.The number of students who like the classroom atmosphere of English vocabulary is increased;The number of students who focus on English vocabulary is increased.(2)Situational teaching method has a positive impact on the students’ English vocabulary learning performance in junior middle school.The breadth and depth of English vocabulary knowledge of the students in the experimental class are improved.The students’ memory of the vocabulary is improved.More students are able to apply the learned vocabulary to specific situations.This study shows that English vocabulary teaching based on situational teaching method in junior high school can improve students’ English vocabulary learning interest and performance.However,this study also has shortcomings such as short experimental cycle and small sample,but the author still hopes that this study can provide some information support for junior high school teachers to use situational teaching method in English vocabulary classes.
