A Study On Sichuan Provincial Governors In Ming Dynasty

In order to strengthen the jurisdiction over Sichuan,the Ming government set up the position of governor above the third department in the first year of Jingtai（1450）,in order to be the prime minister of local affairs.From li Kuang’s appointment as governor of Sichuan to the end of the Ming Dynasty,the actual number of governors in office is 87.This thesis through "Ming Shi Lu",Sichuan local Chronicles,as well as the governor anthology and other documents.First of all,the establishment and development of sichuan provincial governor is carefully studied,and the first Sichuan provincial governor of Ming Dynasty is li Kuang.According to the local characteristics of Sichuan,the development process of Sichuan provincial governor in Ming Dynasty can be divided into three periods,namely,the period of town guard patrol,the period of sichuan provincial governor and Songpan provincial governor,and the period of governor concurrently serving as provincial governor.Secondly,by investigating the characteristics of the bureaucratic groups serving as the governor of Sichuan province,it can be seen that the governor is usually from the south,and before taking office,he usually served as the minister,the governor,and the minister and junior minister of Taipu Temple.Most of them work for one or two years before being promoted.Thirdly,it makes a detailed analysis of the functions and powers of the governor of Sichuan.The governor has civil power,supervisory power and military power during his term of office.The governor of Sichuan not only has to deal with daily affairs,but also needs to deal with military affairs such as the barbarian unrest and the movement of thieves,which is different from the military dilemma faced by the governor of the mainland.The author hopes to put forward his own views and opinions on the problems related to sichuan governor through his research.Further,through the establishment of this official post,the relationship between it and the Ming court’s control over local society and the corresponding management measures is comprehensively investigated and understood.
