In ancient Chinese literature, the sun is one of the archetypal metaphors with the longest history. For thousands of years, the sun has been moving steadily with the attitude of rising in the East and setting in the West.In front of the sun, human life is like a white horse passing through the gap.The huge gap between eternity and transience, and the complex feelings of worship and fear, love and hatred are deeply imprinted in the subconscious of creators of previous dynasties, becoming a kind of collective consciousness, and gradually condensing solar metaphors with different forms and rich meanings. This paper is divided into three chapters. In the introduction,by comparing with the concept of image, the author defines the meaning of metaphor, that is,metaphor is one of the images formed by using metaphor. The first chapter focuses on the metaphor of the sun.The creator is not indiscriminate in the creation of metaphor, which is not only related to the characteristics and self-expression of metaphor itself, but also related to human feelings for metaphor. The sun is a metaphor with extremely prominent characteristics. Its light, high above, running cycle, rise and fall form and so on are all concerned by the creators. On this basis,a natural solar metaphor has been formed, which can be divided into four categories: color solar metaphor, regular solar metaphor, bright solar metaphor and solar metaphor associated with the moon.Human beings have both hatred and love for the sun, both look up to worship and struggle to conquer. The humanistic significance given by the creator to the sun has formed a human cultural sun metaphor, which can be divided into mythological sun metaphor and ethical sun metaphor.second chapter is the metaphor of the sun, which divides the metaphor of the sun into four categories: time and age, people, emotion and situation. The metaphor of the sun has three characteristics: diversity, opposition and enthusiasm, which are rare in the metaphor system. The third chapter analyzes the significance of studying the sun metaphor. From the application of the sun metaphor,we can see the vivid image thinking mode of the Chinese nation, the strong life consciousness of the Chinese nation and the strong resistance spirit of the Chinese nation. The sun metaphor has continued from ancient literature to modern literature, which not only inherited its basic meaning, but also had new changes.
