As an ancient dyeing and weaving process, the traditional warp section hand weaving process has unique process skills and color halo characteristics, which is generally referred to as "ikat" in the world. With the resurgence of traditional handicraft culture, researchers and designers pay more and more attention to it.In this paper,we study the traditional warp section dyeing hand weaving process in Asian countries, such as "adeles" in Xinjiang,China,"kouzhi" in Japan, and "patula" in India, and look for the possibility of its innovative design in contemporary hand weaving. This paper mainly adopts the methods of literature review, data analysis and experimental research to carry out the effective research.First of all,it discusses the hand weaving in the context of modern life, analyzes the characteristics and inheritance status of traditional hand weaving technology, and then extends the innovation of modern hand weaving in materials, texture, visual effect and so on.Secondly, the development of hand-made warp section dyeing process is summarized, and the color and pattern characteristics of hand-made warp section dyeing process in various regions as well as the internal meaning of its expression are emphatically analyzed, and the value of warp section dyeing process is elaborated.Thirdly, typical cases of foreign designers such as Ptolemy Mann,Giorgio Armani and Japanese brand hosoo are used to analyze the theme form, color composition and the possibility of combining with other processes of hand-woven fabric in warp binding section,so as to become an important reference for the innovative practice research of this topic. Finally, guided by the modern and contemporary aesthetic orientation and design concept combined with Chinese cultural connotation, this paper explores the size, density, arrangement and distribution of warp binding and dyeing hand-woven fabric patterns,as well as the process of warp binding and weaving, and tries to find a contemporary turn for traditional warp binding and dyeing hand-woven fabric based on the author’s experience in hand-woven fabric creation.
