Yale University Game Theory Open Course Consecutive Interpretation Practice Report

This paper is an interpretation report based on Yale’s open classes of game theory.After summarizing and analyzing,the author divides difficulties in the task into three types.Then,the author gives suggestions to overcome each difficulties accordingly.Differences between Chinese and English as well as features of open class are fundamental reasons of threes kinds of difficulties which are differences between the two languages,complex logic and a large amount of information.Nida’s functional equivalence is used to compare various interpretation methods and rectified versions,then the best versions are listed in the paper.The methods chosen are the following:adjustment of subject and parts of speech to overcome differences between Chinese and English;adding logic conjunctions,adjustment of word order and ways to connect different parts to cope with complex logic and the separation and reorganization of information,omission and repetition to deal with a large amount of information.Of course,interpreters need to choose the most suitable methods to get the best interpretation.Also,the author analyses the limitation of the suggested interpretation methods to let readers think comprehensively.
