Due to the introduction of Western theories,the concept of novels underwent major changes in the first half of the twentieth century.Under the background of the intersection of Chinese and Western cultures and the coexistence of concepts of new and old novels,the academic research and dissemination of Tang Chuanqi was self-contained,research concepts and research methods.Both have entered a brand-new era,achieved outstanding achievements,and truly established the modern academic paradigm for the study of Tang legends,presenting distinctive characteristics of the times.Therefore,from the perspectives of communication and acceptance,it is of great value in the history of novels to explore the textual dissemination,academic research and dissemination,and the dissemination of dramas and films in the first half of the twentieth century.The thesis mainly includes five parts: introduction,three chapters and conclusion:The introduction clarifies the reasons for choosing this period of time,the relationship between the spread and acceptance of Tang legends,and the research significance and value of the topic through a brief review of the current research status and trends at home and abroad.The first chapter discusses the text dissemination of the Tang legend in the first half of the20 th century,mainly including the style and content of the Tang legend text selected and recorded,as well as the editor's new and old novel concepts embodied from it.Due to the aesthetic characteristics and aesthetic value of the legends of Tang Dynasty,some of the works of the legends of Tang Dynasty were frequently selected by scholars and included in anthologies or series of books,gradually establishing the status of canonization.The second chapter discusses the academic research and dissemination of the legends of Tang Dynasty in the first half of the 20 th century,mainly including the acceptance of newspapers,literary history,and novel history.First of all,the academic circles have explored the reference and classification of Tang legends and the reasons for the maturity and prosperity of Tang legends,so that the concept and textual characteristics of Tang legends can be clarified.Secondly,scholars have devoted a lot of energy to the textual research of writers' works and the study of the concepts of Tang Dynasty novels,with equal emphasis on theory and analysis.These research methods and concepts have established a modern academic paradigm for the study of Tang legends,and have a lot of merit.The third chapter discusses the dissemination of the legend of Tang Dynasty by drama films in the first half of the 20 th century,and explores its unique characteristics of adaptation.In terms of opera,the adaptation of operas related to the legend of the Tang has made innovations in singing,costumes,and dance,showing a transition from a literati's desk play to stage art,and a specific analysis was made using Huo Xiaoyu as an example.In terms of modern drama,the adaptations of the Tang legends The Story of Yingying,The Story of Everlasting Sorrow,and The Story of the Beard Beard have shown a certain degree of criticism and vitality of enlightenment.In terms of film,film adaptations related to the legend of the Tang show a new look.Silent films and sound films coexist.Taking The West Chamber as an example to analyze the perspective characteristics of film adaptations,as well as the audience's attitude and acceptance of film adaptations.These classic works have been reproduced in the new communication environment and communication methods to generate new works that not only have the legendary character of the Tang legend,but also reflect the technical characteristics of drama and film.The conclusion discusses the complicated situation of the dissemination and acceptance of Tang legends in the first half of the twentieth century.Scholars have constructed the research framework of Tang legends from two aspects: research methods and textual value,and spread to the public with simple vernacular forms and vivid and concrete dynamic images.Overall,it presents the new characteristics of popularization of dissemination and acceptance of the conflict and fusion of Chinese and Western novels.It not only has academic historical value,but also has methodological enlightenment significance for the study of Tang legends in the new era.
