Research On The Phonetic And Semantic Characteristics, Cultural Connotation And Usage Of Words In Yantai Dialect

Yantai dialect,as the main body and representative of Jiaoliao Mandarin,has an important position and research value.This paper uses 833 Yantai dialect words in the “Chinese Dialect Dictionary”(Revised Edition)as the corpus,using corpus linguistics research methods,comparative methods,questionnaire survey methods,and the combination of description and explanation research methods to conduct a synchronic study of Yantai dialect words from a multi-level perspective.From the perspective of the sound and meaning correspondence between Yantai dialect words and Mandarin words,the sound and meaning features of Yantai dialect words are reflected in two aspects: phonetic features and meaning features.From the phonetic features,there are four initial consonants in Yantai dialect words but not in Mandarin words.There are seven finals in Yantai dialect words but not in Mandarin words.Yantai dialect words have three tone categories,one less than Mandarin words.From the point of view of meaning characteristics,under the condition of identical word forms,79 of the 833 Yantai dialect words have completely different meanings from those of Putonghua word.6 Yantai dialect words have overlapping meanings with those of Putonghua words.4 Yantai dialect words have larger meanings than those of Putonghua words.From the perspective of the regional characteristic culture embodied in Yantai dialect words,there are 103 Yantai dialect words that can embody the food culture,appellation culture,etiquette and custom culture,farming culture and marine culture with regional characteristics in Yantai.From the perspective of the investigation and analysis of the use of Yantai dialect words,among the five social factors of age,gender,occupation,education level and residential area,only gender factors have no influence on the use of Yantai dialect words,while age,occupation,education level and residential area have influence on the use of Yantai dialect words.In addition,we predict that the number of people using Yantai dialect will decrease and the number of people using Putonghua will increase in the future.Through a multi-level study of Yantai dialect words,this paper enriches the study of Yantai dialect vocabulary,and also provides case materials for the study of language use in sociolinguistics.
