In contacts with Mandarin, the dialect vocabulary is affected in many aspects, and the previous studies mostly concentrate on the problem of borrowing phrases. However, in our daily life, bilingual people are feeling that more and more obvious phrases are no longer being used, and therefore, the retention problem of dialect words is very worthy of study. We find by pre-survey that the vocabulary retention problem is probably correlated with the correspondence of Mandarin. Therefore, this paper relies on the theory of language contact, and focuses on the degree of relationship between correspondence and retention of Yantai dialect words through recordings, interviews, questionnaires, etc. as empirical research to expand the social linguistics survey. It is detailed description of the correspondence between Yantai dialect words and mandarin words, while determining the four levels of the degree of the corresponding, and also concluded an inverse relationship between the degree of the correspondence in Yantai phrases and mandarin phrases and the degree of the retention in Yantai dialect phrases. The thesis consists of five chapters, and each chapter details are as follows:Chapter1introduces the background, theory review, research paths and research value. This chapter is a research-based thesis.Chapter2describes the process of "phrases correspondence investigation between Yantai dialect words and mandarin words" and analyzes the results. In order to getting comprehensive understanding of the correspondence between Yantai mandarin words, this research mainly takes a variety of ways to collecting Yantai dialect words, including <<antai Dialect Report>>, candy drama, collecting175Yantai dialect words, and then takes one-by-one case interviews for13Yantai bilingual speakers. From the single bilingual person and bilingual people as a whole, it has a detailed description of correspondence between Yantai dialect words and mandarin words, and it shows that in essence, bilingual people’s "Phrases Corresponding Mode" is "Match between Semantic Element". In consequence, the research discusses "Match between Semantic Element" based on "Semantic Element Nature" and "Semantic Element Quantity", and finally divides the correspondence degree into four levels,"Complete Correspondence","High Correspondence","Moderate Correspondence","Low Correspondence".Chapter3details the process of "Word Conversion Test in the Real Context", and the results are analyzed. In order to verify and supplement the initial divided levels of the corresponding degree, the report selects phrases from each part of the hierarchy to constitute50test phrases to have recording test for10bilingual speakers, recording their actual presentation in the corresponding conversion text. Through the analysis of the results, we find that "complete corresponding phrases" can be directly converted successfully;"high corresponding phrases" can be ignored the difference in the actual context;"moderate corresponding phrases" cannot be ignored the difference, and the signal of "low corresponding phrases" is most obvious, which might be code-switching, direct give-up, and conversion of paraphrase and other forms, etc. Moreover, the consistence of the "corresponding results" also consistent with the corresponding degree of hierarchy, thus, the report concludes that the degree of correspondence between Yantai dialect words and mandarin words can be divided into four levels. This test and "phrases correspondence investigation between Yantai dialect words and mandarin words" form practice and theory echoes, and they describe the features of phrases in different level from two angles. In addition this test is also in close contact with "the retention degree" survey.Chapter4detailed introduces the process of "Survey of the recognition and use of Yantai dialect phrases" and analyzes the results. As the "corresponding degree" between the phrases is difficult to quantify, we choose "Typical Word Law", selecting some "typical phrases" from each level as representative, to verity the relations between the "retention level" and the "degree of correspondence". From a questionnaire survey of35bilingual people, we find that the higher degree of retention, the lower degree of corresponding, and in particular, complete corresponding phrases and low corresponding phrases rank respectively the last few and the first few of the retention degree, which shows obvious difference. Thus, this report considers that the retained degree of Yantai dialect phrases indeed has the inverse relationship with the corresponding degree, and the inverse relationship may refer to the application of vocabulary.Chapter5states the conclusion and deficiencies of the research. The report sensitively points out the relationship between "the retention degree" of Yantai dialect phrases and the "corresponding degree" between Yantai dialect phrases and Mandarin phrases in the background of language contact; verifies this view through empirical investigation; displays the basic corresponding situation between the sample of Yantai dialect phrases and the sample of Mandarin phrases; broaden the study subjects in vocabulary contact by a case; explores the impact mechanism of the vocabulary contact; provide a specific reference to the inheritance of dialect phrases as well, so it has some theoretical and practical significance.
