Female Artist Groups And Gender Awareness In The YBA Trend

This paper focuses on the group of female artists in YBA and the gender consciousness reflected in their works.Firstly,it starts from the background of YBA,the British social background and environment in the 20 th century when YBA was born,the operation logic of British collector Charles Sachi's collection and promotion of YBA,the strategy of Goldsmith Art Institute for the early cultivation of artists,and the cultural background of YBA The promotion of consumer culture in the 1970 s and the popularity of aesthetic works of art summarize the reasons for the rise of YBA as a British contemporary art trend.Secondly,this paper discusses the context of artistic creation under the influence of the wave of feminism in the 20 th century from three perspectives: the theoretical reasons for the resurgence of feminist research topics in the 20 th century,the development of the history of feminist art in the 20 th century,and the discussion of the gender identity consciousness shown by Gleason Perry,a male artist who likes to dress up.This paper summarizes the images of female artists in YBA,focusing on three YBA female artists and one female artist who has a great influence on YBA.This paper studies YBA female artists from four perspectives: Tracy Emin's autobiographical works of art,Helen Chadwick's representation and display of images,Rachel Whitehead's conceptualization of space and memory,and Sarah Lucas' s straightforward and bold expression of sex and gender through ready-made products.Finally,by comparing YBA with the group of artists participating in the "post sensibility" series of exhibitions in China at the end of the 20 th century,this paper discusses the influence of YBA on Chinese artists,and briefly describes the major exhibitions that YBA female artists have held in China,as well as the inspiration and guidance of these exhibitions on gender art.
