The seal script in the late Qing Dynasty changed the appearance of the seal script in the early and mid-Qing Dynasty, completely freed from the shroud of Shu Wen Jie Zi "Explaining simple and analyzing compound characters",and entered the era of bronze vessel inscriptions, which was the result of multiple factors.Based on the special political and cultural environment of the Qing Dynasty, more scholars were devoted to the textual research of classics and history;due to the change of style of study and other factors, scholars in the Qing Dynasty have surpassed those in the Song Dynasty in their research on bronze vessel inscriptions, and they have made brilliant achievements, and the second peak in the history of the bronze vessel inscriptions ushered in.The formation of a trend can not only be reversed by individual efforts, but must be driven by the group to drive the trend of the times to a new look. This paper selects Wu Dacheng, the most influential epigrapher and calligrapher in the late Qing Dynasty,as a case, involving Mo Youzhi,Yang Yisun,Pan Zuyin,Chen Jieqi,Wu Changshuo,Huang Shiling, etc.in hiscircle, who are all top-notch figures in the academia and calligraphy history of the late Qing Dynasty.Relying on his outstanding knowledge and being born at the height of epigraphy,Wu Dacheng often communicated with the predecessors of epigraphy through letters, and truly achieved "shared appreciation of strange writings",so that he could grasp the research results of various scholars on epigraphy in time.
