| Since the reform and opening up,China’s economy has achieved great growth, but at the same time, the extensive industrial growth model of high investment, high energy consumption and high emissions has triggered a series of environmental problems, making environmental pollution increasingly serious.Resources and environmental issues have seriously restricted China. The sustainable development of the economy, strengthening the level of environmental regulation and raising environmental governance standards have become an important means for China to restrict corporate behavior, control pollution emissions, and protect the ecological environment.Technological innovation plays a key role in promoting the green development of the industrial economy.Technological innovation of enterprises has become a fundamental and effective way to promote environmental protection and promote new industrialization. As a traditional heavy polluting industry, the textile industry is currently facing multiple pressures of market, resource environment and cost.China’s textile industry urgently needs to achieve sustainable development of the textile industry through innovative development and green ecological development.Based on this background, this paper will explore how the environmental regulations implemented by the government have an impact on the technological progress of China’s textile industry. This paper analyzes how the environmental regulation of China’s textile industry affects technological progress through the combination of qualitative and quantitative analysis methods. In theory, the impact mechanism of environmental regulation on the technological progress of the textile industry is analyzed from the two aspects of direct impact effect and indirect impact effect. In terms of empirical evidence, this paper examines the direct and indirect effects of China’s textile industry environmental regulation on technological progress from a national and sub-regional perspective based on the dynamic GMM method, and further examines how environmental regulations in different periods affect the technological progress of the textile industry. What changes will occur in the effects and indirect effects. The results of this paper show that: First,as far as the whole country is concerned, there is a “U”-type characteristic between environmental regulation and technological progress in China’s textile industry.Second,as a whole, the environmental regulation has significantly changed the level of human capital and the role of FDI in the technological progress of the textile industry, and the extent to which the scale of the enterprise has contributed to the technological progress of the textile industry, which has an indirect impact on the technological progress of the textile industry.Thirdly,The environmental regulation of the textile industry in the eastern region has a “U”-shaped structure for the technological progress of enterprises, while the environmental regulation of the textile industry in the central and western regions has a positive linear impact on technological progress. In terms of indirect impact effects, environmental regulation has an indirect impact on the technological progress of the textile industry in the eastern region through enterprise scale, profit margin and human capital, indirect impact through FDI in the central region, and indirect impact through profit margin and human capital in the western region.Fourth, from different perspectives, the textile industry environmental regulation in 2006-2010 has a positive linear impact on technological progress, while the 2011-2015 environmental regulation and the textile industry technological progress have a "U"-shaped feature. In terms of indirect impact effect,in2006-2010,environmental regulation significantly promoted the improvement of its technological progress through the scale of the enterprise. In 2011-2015,environmental regulation enhanced the profitability of the company to promote technological progress. |
