Over the past 40 years of reform and opening up,China has made great achievements in economic growth and become the world’s largest manufacturing country.However,the production mode with high input,high energy consumption and high emission has weakened the value-added capacity and competitiveness of manufacturing industry to some extent,and brought severe environmental problems.The experience of world economic development shows that the producer service industry,as an important support of real economy,can reduce the cost of manufacturing factors with knowledge and technology spillover,and provide good external conditions for manufacturing industry to break through the development dilemma.The expansion of manufacturing industry will further drive the demand for various types of producer services,and further promote the specialization and division of labor of producer services.Therefore,the coupling and coordinated development of manufacturing and producer services is an important way to promote the green and high-quality development of economy.Hence,it is of theoretical and practical significance to analyze the process and pattern of coupling and coordinated development between manufacturing and producer services in China,and to identify its impact on green total factor productivity(GTFP)and regional differences.In this paper,based on the panel data set of 283 cities above the prefecture level in China from 2005 to 2016,we construct the evaluation index system of coupling coordination between manufacturing and producer services.The entropy method and coupling coordination model are employed to calculate the coupling scheduling of China’s urban manufacturing and producer services,and the SBM function and GML index are used to calculate the total factor productivity of urban green in China.Based on the relevant tests,this paper also empirically analyzes the influence of coupling coordination between Chinese urban manufacturing and producer services on the green TFP and its decomposition index.The main conclusions are as follows:(1)From 2005 to 2016,both the comprehensive development level of urban manufacturing industry and producer services industry in China have "U" types,which first declines and then rises,and show a spatial trend of shifting from east to west.(2)On the whole,the level of coupling and coordination between Chinese urban manufacturing and producer services is not high,but it will be further improved in the future.On average,the coupling coordination degree of the two kinds of industry is in the range of moderate to mild imbalance,and the difference between different cities is large.(3)The green TFP of Chinese cities also shows the Utype characteristics,but the regional differences are large,and the high value areas of green TFP have the tendency to shift to the cities in the central and western regions.(4)In general,the coupling and coordinated development between manufacturing industry and producer service industry in China has significantly promoted the improvement of green TFP,but it mainly plays a role in improving the green technology progress,while the impact on the green technological efficiency is not significant.From the perspective of different regions,the industrial coupling coordination of eastern,central and western cities in China significantly improves the green TFP,while the western cities are not significant. |
