| In the era of globalization,industries in all countries are developing towards a higher level and constantly enhancing their competitive advantages in order to occupy more shares in the international market.Naturally,China’s manufacturing industry also hopes to take the lead in the wave of globalization.However,according to the current development situation,China’s manufacturing industry does not have a high position in the international division of labor.It has been in the middle and low-end link of the global value chain,suffering from breaking through the development bottleneck for a long time.In recent years,China’s economy has gradually turned to the stage of high-quality development,and the requirements for industrial development have been continuously improved.Under the dual situation of international globalization and domestic high-quality development,it is imperative for the manufacturing industry to change its development mode,deeply embed into the global value chain and improve industrial productivity.Under this background,this paper studies the impact of manufacturing industry embedded in the global value chain on its green total factor productivity.In the existing literature,most scholars have studied the relationship between global value chain and total factor productivity,and also unilaterally studied global value chain or green total factor productivity,but there are few articles to discuss them under the same framework.Therefore,this paper explores the relationship between them from the industry level and two different embedding perspectives,studies the mechanism of manufacturing industry embedded in global value chain on green total factor productivity on the basis of relevant theoretical research,and verifies them through the empirical model.Finally,it draws a conclusion and puts forward some suggestions.This paper calculates the forward and backward embedding degree of the global value chain of the manufacturing industry based on the UIBE database,calculates the green total factor productivity of the manufacturing industry with the SBM-ML model,and then constructs the benchmark model,the extended model of introducing the square term of global value chain participation and the mechanism model,finally use stata for authentic proof analysis.The results show that:(1)whether forward embedding or backward embedding,global value chain embedding has a positive effect on green total factor productivity of the manufacturing industry,and the deeper the manufacturing industry is embedded in global value chain,the higher its green total factor productivity is;(2)There is a nonlinear relationship between the embedding degree of the manufacturing industry in global value chain and its green total factor productivity.There is a "U" relationship between the forward embedding degree of global value chain and green total factor productivity,while there is an "inverted U" relationship between the backward embedding degree of global value chain and green total factor productivity;(3)The embedding of the manufacturing industry into global value chain affects green total factor productivity through technology effect and environmental effect,but the allocation effect has no significant effect.Based on the above conclusions,this paper puts forward three suggestions: promote the manufacturing industry to deeply participate in the global value chain,promote the manufacturing industry to embed the global value chain from a forward perspective,promote the innovative development of manufacturing industry and realize technological progress. |
