| In recent years,island economy and society has entered a stage of rapid development because of tourism development.However,the island ecosystem is very fragile,and it is easy to cause damage to the ecological environment in the process of resource development.Therefore,carrying out island ecosystem health assessment will help to better understand the current situation of island ecosystem,provide important basis and scientific basis for Island Management and ecological protection,and promote the coordinated development of island social economy and ecological environment.Nan’ao Island,located in the east of Shantou City,is an island county-level tourist city in Guangdong Province,which is rich in biological resources,tourism resources,renewable energy and so on.However the increasing development activities have disturbed the island ecosystem.Evaluating the health status of island ecos ystem and anal yzing the main factors affecting its ecos ystem are of great significance and important role in accuratel y understanding the ecological pressure and ecological environment of the island,timely taking effective meas ures to adjust Island planning and management policies,balancing the relationship between development activities and ecological protection,and realizing the sustainable development of the island.Based on the pressure state response(PSR)model,this pap er constructs the index system,uses the comprehensive index method to evaluate the ecos ystem health level of Nan’ao Island,and puts forward several proposals according to the evaluation results.The specific evaluation results are as followed:(1)The ecos ystem health of Nan’ao Island were evaluated as the score of 0.73,which represented "good situation" a ccording to the standard s of the assessment of ecosystem health.It could be concluded that the Nan’ao Island ecos ystem is slightl y disturbed b y external pressure,and the ecos ystem is relatively health y with normal service function and high biodiversit y,and the composition and structure of biological communit y are basicall y stable.However,it is eas y to be disturbed b y human activities and degrade the ecos ystem.(2)Press subs ystem was in "general" situation.It shows that the pressure from natural and human activities brought great effect to the ecology environment,and tends to be obvious.And the influence of human activities has exceeded that of natural disasters on ecos ystems.Among them,harmful algal bloom,aquaculture and tourism development are the most prominent pressure on the health of island ecos ystem.I t is necessary to strengthen water quality monitoring and harmful algal bloom prevention.Controlling the area of aquaculture needed to be reasonabl y supervised as well.Besides,it is also necessary to g uide the structural adjustment of tourism projects.(3)State subs ystem was in "good" situation,indicating the overall good condition in Nan’ao Island.The environmental qualit y is superior with high biodiversit y.The ecos ystem was able to maintain relatively complete communit y structure,normal energy flow and material cycling.Slef-regulation abilit y was equip ped to resist and recover from the long-term nature interference.The situation of env ironment qualit y was generall y good.Among the indicators,The condition of intertidal organisms and coastal organisms was relativel y general,yet still in the need of strengthened protection.(4)Response subs ystem was in "good" situation,indicating that the local government has done a good job.All the management work could meet the requirement of ecos ystem protection and ecos ystem protection has been led onto the correct track.According to the analysis,this article came up with some suggestions including aquaculture,tourism including industry,establishment of integrated management system and network cooperation,consequentl y offering scientific advice of ecos ystem management in Nan’ao Island. |
