Research On The Application Of Jingdezhen Ceramic Traditional Cersmic Decoration In Contemporary Porcelain Design For Daily Use

Having established a reputation both at home and abroad through its porcelain making tradition passed on for centuries,Jingdezhen has left a rich cultural heritage in surface decoration just as notable as the blue and white porcelain itself.Jingdezhen’s surface decorations,traditional motifs in particular,tend to have strong visual characteristics as well as rich cultural connotations.In this paper,we would first look at the visual characteristics of the traditional surface decoration in Jingdezhen Porcelain,as well as how different forms of decorations are applied to porcelain wares in practice.Then we would discuss the possibilities of integrating the traditional decoration into modern-day domestic ware design.To further explore the potential of the abovementioned surface decorations for contemporary design,we created two collections,using camellia motif and celadon respectively,with underglaze decoration and glaze as two of our focal points.
