From 1911 to 1949,Western art,accompanied by colonial invasion,caused a huge impact on the development of modern commercial art in China.The domestic market was divided by the Western powers,and a large number of foreign products were dumped into the country,so national products could only survive in the cracks.In order to change the situation of China’s accumulated poverty and weakness,many national enterprises and brands have emerged since the end of the Qing Dynasty under the influence of the idea of industrial national salvation.In order to find and develop the market,the national manufacturers actively learn from the West,began to pay attention to the product packaging and trademark brand competition,making the rapid development of national product packaging design.Among them,tea,as one of the most common beverages in the daily life of the public at that time,was also one of the carriers of the national enterprises’ brand awareness performance.Its packaging design not only has a protective storage function,but also serves as an important carrier to inherit Chinese tea culture,and the cultural connotation and aesthetic value shown can not only enhance the added value of tea,but also promote the sales of tea.Moreover,the emergence of new materials has provided rich soil and nutrients for the innovation of tea packaging design,making the modern Chinese tea packaging design,under the influence of the western wind and the east at that time,come out of a design path that combines the East and the West.The thesis takes tea packaging design as the research object,and analyzes its unique design style characteristics from the design dimension,combining the political and economic,cultural and aesthetic,and art and design development of modern society.There are six chapters in the text: the introduction part is to analyze the research background of modern Chinese tea packaging design,review the current situation of related research fields,determine the research method,and explain the purpose and significance of the research while introducing the key points of difficulty and innovation.The second chapter will trace the history of Chinese tea culture and tea packaging,and sort out its development history,from ancient China and modern China respectively.The third chapter is the key part of the work on tea packaging design in modern China,with a specific study on the rich and diverse material structure of tea packaging design with emphasis on practicality and functionality,the exquisite packaging technology and printing technique,the colorful image patterns,art fonts,graphic arrangement,raphic arrangement,trademarks and labels,colors,the use of female figures and other decorative languages,as well as the environmental protection and sustainable concepts embodied in the packaging.The fourth chapter summarizes the causes through case studies of modern Chinese tea packaging works in terms of the design style under the local culture,the style after the influx of Western thinking and the design style under the blending of Eastern and Western cultures.Chapter 5 summarizes the design features and experiences,and emphasizes its inspiration to contemporary tea packaging design and the strategies that can be drawn for future development.The sixth chapter is a summary of the whole thesis.Through the study of Chinese tea packaging design in modern times,it captures how the Chinese tea culture was inherited and the western design concept was integrated into the design of its tea packaging,making its design style a wonderful blend of Chinese and western,and becoming one of the representatives of Chinese modern diversified design.
