| This paper takes ‘Beijing Institute of Iron and Steel Engineering’ and ‘Central South Institute of Mining and Metallurgy’,the two most representative scientific communities in the field of Metallurgical Physical Chemistry in China,as samples,trying to reveal the history of Metallurgical Physical Chemistry in China through the comparative study.It is found that the differences between the two schools are manifested in the key theories,organizational constructions,research fields and so on.Especially in the key theories,Shoukun Wei and Xinmin Chen’s different methods of using the concept of ‘activity’directly show their different understandings of metallurgical physical chemistry.It is these differences that have contributed to the different development models and disciplinary contributions of ‘Beijing Institute of Iron and Steel Engineering’ and ‘Central South Institute of Mining and Metallurgy’.Through the research,this paper will have a deep reflection on the formation of these scientific groups and take a knowledge of the dynamic mechanism behind them,which means we can have a deeper understanding of the development model of engineering science like Metallurgical Physical Chemistry. |
