| Toys have a subtle influence on children’s physical and mental development and are an essential partner in their growth. With the relaxation of the national policy on the birth of two and three children and the emergence of a new generation of young parents, the children’s toy market will usher in new opportunities and challenges.More and more children and parents are favouring electronic interactive toys over traditional toys.Whether it’s the way they interact or the experience of using them, interactive toys can give users an even better experience. There is still much room for development in the current market of interactive toys, therefore, this project will combine the developmental characteristics and needs of preschool children and propose a solution to apply the fluency experience to toy design. This thesis first analyzes the theories involved in fluency, clarifies the difference between fluency and association, and summarizes the connection between fluency and semiotics and product semantics. The thesis outlines the generation and types of generic experiences, and summarizes the role and construction strategies of generic senses in product design with case studies. The definition and classification of toys are sorted out,and the cognitive development characteristics and needs of preschool children aged 3-6 are analyzed and summarized.Based on the analysis of the characteristics and design principles of interaction design and interaction technology in children’s toy design, the interaction logic of fluency experience in toy design is explored by combining the physiological, psychological, behavioral and cognitive characteristics of children and the design methods of fluency experience. Finally, combined with questionnaire research on parents and children,we specifically analyze the way of symbolization between sound and color and shape in interactive toys under the audiovisual fluency,in order to achieve the research purpose of triggering fluency experience. This paper provides a theoretical basis and practical guidance for interactive children’s toy design through a variety of research methods. The design practice part is an innovation in the application of through-sensory experience to interactive toy design.Through this practice,we aim to provide more diverse and varied interactive toy experiences for children, and to provide more design ideas and methods for the research field of children’s multisensory toy design. |
