| As a vital growth pole in the west,the Chengdu-Chongqing twin-city economic circle is of great significance in promoting coordinated regional development and building a high-quality development layout.In response to the ecological priority and the principle of green development required by the national strategy,it is necessary to actively explore the path of green transformation and development to help build a "green economic circle".Environmental regulation can regulate the resources,environment and economic development,thus affecting the level of green total factor productivity(GTFP).This paper first outlines environmental regulations,GTFP,and the impact relationship between the two.Secondly,empirical research is conducted on the impact of environmental regulations in the Chengdu-Chongqing twin-city economic circle on GTFP.Then,the super efficiency SBM model and Malmquist-Luenberger(ML)index were used to calculate and analyze GTFP and its decomposition terms of 16 cities in the Chengdu-Chongqing twin-city economic circle from 2010 to 2019 from a spatiotemporal perspective.The spatial correlation analysis of GTFP was conducted using social network analysis method.The quadratic term of environmental regulation and the panel threshold regression model are introduced respectively to explore the nonlinear impact of environmental regulation on GTFP.At the same time,based on the further discussion of different types of environmental regulation,the impact mechanism of environmental regulation on GTFP is verified by theoretical derivation and mesomeric effect model analysis.Finally,the spatial Durbin model is used to analyze the spatial spillover effects of environmental regulation on GTFP.Based on the previous analysis and research,the following main conclusions are drawn:(1)The overall GTFP has shown a steady rise in the time span,but there is an obvious imbalance in the development of internal cities.The southern and northern wing regions are both lower than the average level.Technological progress is the main source of affecting GTFP,while the influence of technological efficiency is relatively weak.The main source of causing regional differences is the differences between cities in each region.(2)The comprehensive index of environmental regulation shows a gradual rise,and the advantages of Chengdu-Chongqing dual core and central region are obvious.(3)For all cities,there is a significant "U" relationship between environmental regulation and GTFP.At present,most cities are at a low level of environmental regulation.In addition,with the increase of scientific research investment,the impact of environmental regulation on promoting green total factor productivity has also been strengthened.The impact of different types of environmental regulation tools on GTFP is different.At present,the market incentive type is the main one,the command and control type is the auxiliary one,and the voluntary agreement type is the supplementary means.(4)The link between GTFP of each city is accessible and unbalanced,and the spatial network structure is not close.Suining,Ziyang,Chengdu and Neijiang are at the core of the network map,while Mianyang,Yibin,Dazhou,Guang’an and other cities have less spatial correlation of green total factor productivity and are at the edge of the network relationship.At the same time,GTFP has a significant negative spatial correlation.The environmental regulations of surrounding cities have an impact on the GTFP of this city,and there is a spatial spillover effect.(5)Environmental regulation can affect GTFP through two paths of production technology progress and pollution control technology progress.When the level of environmental regulation is strengthened,the level of pollution control technology continues to improve,but the level of marginal pollution control technology is decreasing,and the level of production technology shows a "U" type change trend of first falling and then rising. |
