With global environmental problems becoming increasingly serious,China has proposed the goal of "carbon peaking" and "carbon neutrality" by2020,green and lowcarbon transformation has become an inevitable trend for China’s future development. At the same time, the digital economy has been deeply integrated into various social activities and become an important factor of economic growth. The wide application and penetration of digital technology can make traditional industries intelligent and green, and reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions while promoting economic development, which is an important way to accomplish the "double carbon" target and for the region to achieve low-carbon development. This is an essential way for China to achieve the "double carbon" target and to achieve low-carbon development.Carbon productivity is an important indicator of low-carbon development,as it reveals a region’s carbon reduction from an economic perspective, taking into account both the level of economic development and carbon emissions. In this essay,30 provinces(excluding Tibet,Hong Kong,Macau, and Taiwan)were studied from 2011 to 2020.,defining and measuring the development levels of carbon productivity and digital economy in each region, analyzed the spatial and temporal evolution trends, and examized the degree of influence, mediation mechanisms, spillover effects and heterogeneity of the digital economy affecting regional carbon productivity by constructed fixed-effects model, mediation model and spatial Durbin model, provided suggestions and guidance for regions to achieve low-carbon transformation. The conclusions of the essay shown that:(1)the digital economy and regional carbon productivity show the same spatiotemporal evolutionary trend. The level of development of the digital economy and carbon productivity in each region grows steadily from2011to2020,and the spatial distribution shows a sequential decrease in both from the eastern coastal regions to the central and western regions;(2)The digital economy can significantly improve regional carbon productivity, energy structure and green technology innovation play a mediating role in the process of the digital economy affecting regional carbon productivity;(3)Spatial econometric model analysis shows that there is a spatial spillover effect when the digital economy affects regional carbon productivity, and regional carbon productivity will be influenced not only by the level of development of the digital economy in the region but also by the level of development of the digital economy in surrounding regions;(4)Heterogeneity analysis shows that there are differences in the degree of impact of the digital economy on carbon productivity in different regions, specifically reflected in west>east>central.based on the findings of the study, this essay maked the following suggestions:(1)Paying attention to the impact of the digital economy on regional carbon productivity,China should accelerate the digitalization process and make full use of the advantages of the digital economy in promoting economic development and improving carbon productivity;(2)Focus on the mediating role of energy structure and green technology innovation.on the one hand, improving energy efficiency and optimizing the energy structure through the development of the digital economy.on the other hand, focus on the role of the digital economy in promoting efficient energy development and the diffusion of low-carbon technologies to improve energy use efficiency and carbon productivity;(3)Pay attention to the spatial spillover effect of the digital economy on regional carbon productivity;regions should plan the digital economy process rationally and strengthen exchanges and cooperation;(4)Different regions should formulate strategies according to their own development levels, reduce the development gap between regions, and promote green and low-carbon development.
