Currently,in the face of the fast-paced life,complex social relationships,and intense pressure of job competition,people yearn for a relaxing and healing corner to obtain spiritual comfort.With the transition of pets from "guarding the house" to "emotional companionship," simple and cute pets have become a spiritual and emotional support for people to regulate emotions and relieve stress.The status of pets is gradually rising,driving the booming development of the pet products industry.Pet ownership is no longer limited to basic consumption such as feeding,medical care,and grooming.As one of the pet-related products,pet clothing is the product of people’s personal emotions towards their pets.The development of pet clothing is an external manifestation of the pet owner’s emotional attachment to their pets.This topic takes the design of parent-pet clothing patterns as the research foundation,and explores the design principles and innovative application methods of modern pet clothing patterns from the perspective of the three-level theory of emotional design.First of all,the concept and definition of emotional design are expounded by collecting information and sorting out literature,and the similarities and differences between emotional design and Kansei engineering theory are analyzed and compared,which further indicates that the emotional design mentioned in this article is the emotional design theory which applied in the field of art design,rather than the sensory ergonomics theory commonly used in the field of engineering.By sorting out Maslow’s hierarchy of psychological needs theory,the necessity of applying emotional design theory is explained.Secondly,the concept and research scope of parent-pet clothing patterns are defined,and the existing design performance of pet clothing patterns in the market is summarized and sorted out.Three performance characteristics of parent-pet clothing patterns,including homology of expression elements,echoing of color matching,and unity of composition,are proposed.By analyzing the current market situation of parent-pet clothing patterns and combining research results,the design needs of consumers are summarized,which includes market consumption demand,audience demand,and cultural connotation demand.Finally,based on consumers’ design needs for parent-pet clothing patterns,it is pointed out that design should consider principles such as applicability,pleasure,and sustainability.The three paths derived from the theory of emotional design,namely,mutual beauty,sharing,and empathy,have been summarized to awaken sensory pleasure,emphasize functional experience,and deepen emotional connection.Through practical design,this not only enriches the design ideas of parent-pet clothing,but also further improves the principles and methods of innovative design of parent-pet clothing patterns,It also provides theoretical basis and practical support for workers involved in innovative design of parent-pet clothing patterns and the promotion of pet culture.
