Research On The Impact Of Digital Economy Development On Ecological Environment Protection In China

China’s digital economy has a good momentum of development,and the ecological environment protection work has undergone historic changes while achieving phased achievements.During this important period,will the development of China’s digital economy have an impact on ecological environment protection? What are the mechanisms and effects of the impact? These issues are worth in-depth research.On the basis of exploring the theoretical mechanism of digital economy development on ecological environment protection and summarizing their respective development,this paper,based on the inter provincial panel data from2007 to 2021,considers digital infrastructure,digital innovation and digital application factors to fit the indicators of digital economy development level,and combines the indicators of industrial waste,three wastes and energy consumption to build ecological environment indicators.Through the double fixed effect model,mesomeric effect model and threshold model,Empirical research is conducted on the impact and mechanism of digital economy development on ecological environment protection,and further empirical research is conducted on the regional heterogeneity and nonlinear characteristics of the impact effect.Research has found that the development of China’s digital economy and the construction of digital infrastructure have a positive driving effect on the improvement of the ecological environment.Empirical evidence from different regions shows that the empowering effect of the digital economy on ecological environment protection in the central region is better than that in the western region,and the driving effect on the northern region exceeds the national average level;The test results of mesomeric effect show that the digital economy enables the protection of ecological environment by generating infrastructure effect and resource allocation effect at this stage;The regression results of the threshold model verified the nonlinear effect of digital infrastructure factors on the empowerment of ecological environment protection,and the impact of digital infrastructure factors on the effect showed a "marginal decreasing" feature.Considering the problems faced by China’s ecological and environmental protection,such as insufficient funding,poor overall national environmental awareness,and insufficient law enforcement efforts,China should attach great importance to the empowering role of digital development in ecological and environmental protection,utilize various digital factors to establish an environmental protection system,ecological credit system,and ecological law enforcement system,and actively promote the construction of ecological and environmental protection projects.This article combines practical situations and theoretical premises to empirically verify the driving effect of digital economy development on ecological environment improvement,and further analyze the mechanism of the impact effect.In response to the difficulties and challenges faced by China’s ecological and environmental protection,this paper analyzes the shortcomings of digital economy development in further optimizing the process of ecological and environmental protection,and proposes corresponding policy recommendations,which are conducive to advancing ecological and environmental protection work to a new level.
