Research On The Cultural Genes Of Xilingol Mongolian Furniture

Xilingol has gathered many Mongolian furniture production and manufacturing craftsmen,whose craftsmanship is comprehensive and the number of furniture samples is numerous,which is typical and representative.Taking the region as the premise to explore the cultural connotation of Mongolian furniture in this region,it can improve the theoretical system of Mongolian furniture culture and serve the modern Mongolian furniture design.This study conducted a comprehensive field survey on Mongolian furniture in the territory of Xilingol league.More than thirty woodworking skill inheritors and Mongolian furniture makers from the autonomous region,league cities,and banner counties were interviewed to obtain oral data on furniture making and skill inheritance.More than one thousand furniture samples were photographed,including museums,herdsmen’s homes and Mongolian furniture making factories,workshops and outlets.We systematically organized the distribution of Mongolian furniture types,decorative features,techniques,and inheritance genealogy in the research data,and formed the characteristic indexes of Mongolian furniture in the region,and clustered the indexes using the "systematic clustering method" to form three furniture cultural characteristic units,namely,the technique characteristic unit,the form and shape characteristic unit,and the visual decoration characteristic unit.The three furniture cultural characteristic units were formed,i.e.craft technology characteristic unit,form and shape characteristic unit,and visual decoration characteristic unit.Through the statistics of high-frequency indicators in the gene unit,the causes were analyzed and their pointers were summarized.It is found that the cultural genes of Xilingol Mongolian furniture can be interpreted from nomadic tradition dimension,thinking concept dimension,communication and integration dimension,and era selection dimension,and can correspond to inherited cultural attributes and transformed cultural attributes.The above analysis shows that the cultural gene distribution of Mongolian furniture in the eastern Ujumqin region of Xilingol,the central Xilinhot and Abaga regions,the southern Chahar region,and the western Sunit region have commonalities,and all of them have the nomadic tradition dimension as the core cultural gene dimension.In addition to the common core cultural gene dimension,each region has differences.The in-depth study of furniture cultural genes can clarify the cultural differences of furniture in different regions,grasp the design points,and provide new methods and ideas for the study of Mongolian furniture.
