chapter mainly analyzes the application mode of the southeast Taiwan minority traditional costume elements in contemporary costume design from two aspects of design principles and design methods.Based on modern costume design theory and fashion trend analysis, this paper draws design inspiration from the traditional costume culture of ethnic minorities in southeast Taiwan, and completes contemporary costume design practice through design conception, series effect drawing, garment production and other parts. The sixth chapter is the summary and prospect of the previous article. It is feasible to apply the typical elements and art forms of the traditional costumes of ethnic minorities in southeast Taiwan into modern costumes, which not only has the ethnic charm, but also reflects the inclusiveness and national confidence of the Chinese costume culture. In order to provide valuable materials and broad ideas for the innovative application of modern costumes, the research on traditional minority costumes should dig deeper into the characteristics and connotation of traditional costumes, extract the aesthetic characteristics and cultural representations of traditional costumes.Through the above research, the author draws the following conclusions:(1)The natural environment determines the material and style of its clothing. The Amis,Beinan,Bunong,Yami,Pai Wan and Lukai live near the sea.The high temperature and humidity make ramie grow widely and become the main material of clothing. The simple square style can adapt to the hot and humid climate and reduce the disturbance of clothing on long-term work.Through the extraction of raw materials from nature and the application of lines and graphic elements such as plants, animals, mountains and rivers, the ornaments show the true emotion of people integrating the art of clothing into the natural environment.(2)The cultural environment determines the details and uses of clothing.Ethnic minorities in southeast Taiwan believe in and worship gods, and this cultural phenomenon and ideology are fully reflected in their clothes. They use knitting, embroidery, beading, forging and other techniques to create figurative and abstract patterns, which are simple, clear, orderly, harmonious and smooth, and are considered as the "eye of the ancestral spirit" or the symbol of ethnic totems. It is fully explained that the detailed expression of clothing is a profound expression of ancestral memory and family identity.(3)The traditional costumes of ethnic minorities in southeast Taiwan are the embodiment of social class identity and an important representation of ethnic identity. They are characterized by the division of labor between men and women.Their age, class, status and branch can be judged by their costumes. To inherit the aesthetic connotation of "coordination" and "unity" emphasized by Chinese clothing and the "Chinese" culture of the Chinese nation by using the clothing styles and patterns of their own ethnic groups;(4)The shape and system of the traditional costumes of the ethnic minorities in the southeast of Taiwan are harmonious and unified, with prominent color contrast and simple and clear patterns. The traditional elements of the costumes are extracted, and the innovative application of modern costumes is carried out to provide a certain reference for developing the derivative design of the traditional costumes in Taiwan.
