In recent years, unsafe incidents in chemical-related laboratories have occurred from time to time.Countries and universities pay more and more attention to laboratory safety, but there are still some situations such as inadequate implementation of education,so it is urgent to improve the effectiveness of laboratory safety education. In order to investigate the effectiveness of safety education in chemical-related laboratories in a certain university, this paper investigates the laboratory safety knowledge, hazard identification ability, unsafe behavior, safety perception, safety awareness and attitude of chemical-related majors, and provides basic data support for the research on strategies to improve the effectiveness of laboratory safety education. The results of the laboratory safety knowledge test of freshmen required chemistry courses show that students have insufficient understanding of emergency disposal and waste disposal measures; There is a significant difference between the two schools. The students of the College of Chemical Engineering and Environmental Safety have a better overall grasp of chemical safety knowledge than the students of the College of Machinery and Materials; After the online and offline mixed mode safety education and the semester end education, the students of the College of Chemical Engineering have significantly improved their grasp of safety knowledge.According to the survey results,it is proposed to optimize the content and mode of education, further promote the online and offline mixed mode of safety education, and actively promote the "three complete" education. The results of the laboratory safety identification ability test of students show that:Students tend to ignore the common hazards in the laboratory, and their ability to identify hazards is weak;graduate students have the worst answers among all grades, and students majoring in chemical engineering and technology have the worst answers among all majors;detailed accident case introductions are better than simplified ones. The description is more helpful for students to identify the danger of accidents;a small number of students’ safety attitudes are negative.According to the survey results,it is proposed to improve the teaching of accident cases and strengthen the specialization of safety education. The on-site investigation of the unsafe behaviors of students in chemical-related laboratories shows that it is common for students to fail to wear lab coats in a standard way;sophomores perform the best, and seniors perform the worst.According to the survey results,it is proposed to strengthen the management of laboratory behavior safety, strengthen the standardization of teachers’ experimental teaching, and avoid risk habituation. The investigation of the perception of the surrounding environment of the laboratory by the students involved in chemical engineering, the evaluation of the laboratory safety awareness and the laboratory safety attitude of the teachers in the experimental teaching link, the conclusion is as follows: there are significant differences in the laboratory attitude in terms of gender and grade,women(3.692±0.978)scored higher than men(3.337±1.185),and students from the School of Mechanical Engineering had the lowest scores(3.240±1.175);freshman students had the lowest average scores, and senior students had higher average scores.According to the survey results,it is proposed to improve students’ laboratory safety perception, awareness and attitude, and strengthen the construction of laboratory safety culture.
