| Objective:To observe whether probucol have the anti-atherogenesis effect by up-regulation the serum adiponectin level.Method:Eighty-six patients with unstable atherosclerotic plaque of carotid artery detected by color Doppler ultrasound were randomly divided into two groups:combined treatment group(n=43)and control group(n=43).Patients in the combined treatment group take probucol 375mg 2 times daily and atorvastatin 20mg 1 times daily and in control group take atorvastatin 20mg 1 times. All choosed patients were respectively tested total cholesterol(TC),triglyceride(TG),low density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C),high density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL-C)),oxidized low density lipoprotein(ox-LDL),adiponectin(APN),and plaque size before and 6 months after treatment.Result:After treatment the serum levels of TC,TG,LDL-C,ox-LDL and plaque size decreased in both groups(P<0.05)and the TC,LDL-C,ox-LDL,plaque size all reduced significantly in combined group(P<0.05).In the control group, the level of HDL-C was significantly increase after treatment(P<0.05),but the level of HDL-C in combined group was decreased after treatment and there are no difference between before and after treatment(P>0.05).The serum APN level all increased(P<0.05),and the serum APN level increased significantly in combined group(P<0.05).During the treatment, there was no significant difference in liver and kidney function and no myalgia or allergic adverse reactions was observed. Conclusion:The effect of atorvastatin and probucol on reducing blood lipid and anti-atherogenesis was better than that of atorvastatin monotherapy, and the risk of side effect did not increase.Probucol might exhibit its anti-atherogenesis effect through a mechanism by elevating APN but the precise mechanism needed further studied. |
