Clinical Observation Of Transcutaneous Electrical Acupoint Stimulation On Acupoints Of Conception Vessel And Governor Vessel For Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

Objective To observe the clinical efficacy and safety of Transcutaneous Electrical Acupoint Stimulation(TEAS)on acupoints of Conception Vessel and Governor Vessel for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome(CFS).And provide a theoretical basis for its further clinical application.Methods A total of 89 cases of CFS were randomized into a control group(n=43)and a treatment group(n=46).The treatment group was stimulated 4 acupoints(Dazhui and Mingmen,Shenque and Guanyuan)by TEAS(intensity:12±2mA),30min,once a day,5 times a week,for 4 weeks.The control group simulated TEAS(intensity:1mA)on the same acupoints(Patients had no subjective sensation to 1mA TEAS,as to be simulated TEAS).Clinical symptoms of TCM,fatigue symptoms,pain symptoms and life quality were assessed via TCM symptoms Scale,Krupp Fatigue Severity Scale(FSS),Short Form of McGill Pain Questionnaire(SF-MPQ)and Short Form-36 Health Survey(SF-36)before and after treatment.Meanwhile,safety was observed.Results After ending of treatment,scores of TCM symptoms Scale in control group were no statistically significant difference with those of before treatment(P>0.05),but scores of TCM symptoms Scale in treatment group were significantly decreased(P<0.01).The scores of TCM symptoms Scale in treatment group were significantly decreased than those of control group(P<0.01).FSS scores in control group were no statistically significant difference with those of before treatment(P>0.05),but FSS scores in treatment group were significantly decreased(P<0.01).The FSS scores in treatment group were significantly decreased than those of control group(P<0.01).Pain Rating Index(PRI),Visual Analogous Scale(VAS)and Present Pain Intensity(PPI)of SF-MPQ in control group were both no statistically significant difference with those of before treatment(P>0.05),but PRI,VAS and PPI of SF-MPQ in treatment group were significantly decreased(P<0.01).The PRI,VAS and PPI of SF-MPQ in treatment group were significantly decreased than those of control group(P<0.01).SF-36 scores in control group were no statistically significant difference with those of before treatment(P>0.05),SF-36 scores in treatment group was significantly increased(P<0.01).SF-36 scores in treatment group significantly increased than that of control group(P<0.01).Over the whole treatment coure,there was no adverse events appeared.Conclusion TEAS on acupoints of Conception Vessel and Governor Vessel provided a significant improvement in clinical symptoms for CFS patients,with a high security.It is worthy of further clinical verification and popularization.
